How long does Danish cord last?
Black cord is dyed prior to being twisted together and white cord is bleached. The natural cord is a kraft-brown color. Danish cord is known for its durability – said to last upwards of 60 years before needing to be replaced. It’s typically waxed to aid durability and prevent stains.
Are Danish cord seats comfortable?
While they are simplistic, they are solid and extremely comfortable to sit in.
What is the difference between laced and unlaced Danish cord?
Laced Danish Cord is tightly roped (as used on Wegner’s Wishbone Chairs and the Rope Chair). Unlaced Danish Cord is twisted instead of roped, and is not as tightly twisted as Laced. The unlaced cord is commonly used today, as seen on this Danish modern chair (right).
How do you clean a Danish Papercord?
To clean a paper cord weave, wipe with a damp cloth that has been dipped in a neutral soap lye. Please don’t do this too often, as it will increase the wear of the material. Soap for cleaning paper cord is available in our online shop.
How do I protect my rush seats?
Whether your chair has a seat woven with cane, rush, splint or rope, it will last longer if you maintain it with a finish, and lacquer is an inexpensive and easy-to-apply option. Grassy materials like cane and rush can dry out and break in conditions of low humidity.
How do you seal fiber rush?
Fiber Rush can be sealed with shellac. Instructions are in the fiber rush booklet. We recommend that you use Binder Cane to weave chairs that will be outdoors on a porch.

How do you clean rope chair seats?
Prepare a solution of 4 teaspoons of household bleach & 1 teaspoon of mild detergent per 235-355ml (1-1/2 cups) of lukewarm water. 2. Spray the cleaning solution onto the stained area and allow to soak in for 15 minutes.
