What is a self binding quilt?
Self-binding is a quick and easy way to bind small quilting projects. Also known as fold-over binding, a self-binding is made from excess backing fabric that’s trimmed to size and folded to the front side of the quilt to enclose the raw edges.
How big should my quilt backing be?
Size of the back: must be at least 6″ wider on each side, top and bottom, than your quilt top. A total of 12″ larger than your quilt top. Trim the top and bottom edges of your backing so they are straight and square.
How does quilt as you go work?
Quilt As You Go is a method of making a quilt sandwich with the finished quilt blocks or rows, batting cut to the finished size and backing, then quilting the finished block.
